Queensland Poll: What if Labor gets to 44 seats - Will Peter Wellington become Speaker?

Peter Wellington - Could become
the next Speaker of the
 Queensland Parliament
If the ALP gets to 44 seats - with the increasingly-likely scenario that it wins the seat of Maryborough from the LNP - it will still fall one seat short of the 45 seats it needs to form a majority government.

The Independent Member for Nicklin Peter Wellington - an honest and respected Member of the Queensland Parliament - has said he would support a minority Labor government but not a minority LNP government.

Annastacia Palaszczuk said she would not being doing any deals with minority candidates to form a Labor government.

But she did not rule out supporting an Independent to be the next Speaker of the Queensland Parliament.

Peter Wellington is a former solicitor, Maroochy Shire Councillor and Independent Member for Nicklin for the past 17 years.

He would make an impressive and impartial Speaker of the Queensland Parliament and would ensure Labor could form stable government for the next 3 years, without compromising Premier Palaszczuk's pre-election "no deals" promise.
